WHAT DOES HE REQUIRE?

Pastor Enghee Fuentes

“He has told you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

Later on, in this chapter God gives an indictment for Israel letting them know the benefits they once enjoyed and security they once had would be removed. Life would be a great struggle for them as a result of their disobedience. This lesson speaks to us still today. There are benefits for obedience and consequences for choosing to live for ourselves in disobedience.

One such consequence is highlighted in vs. 14: You will eat, but you will not be satisfied, and your vileness will be in your midst.

While we enjoy the benefits of our position in Him as children of God, may we willingly practice what He requires of us: do what is right, show kindness, and love Him above all. As we fast and pray, may there be no confusion about or neglect of what His Word instructs, and requires, so we may remain in close relationship with God and postured to receive His generous benefits.

“My soul, praise Yahweh, and all that is within me, praise His holy name. My soul, praise the Lord, and do not forget all His benefits: He forgives all your sin; He heals all your diseases, He redeems your life from the Pit; He crowns you with faithful love and compassion. He satisfies you with goodness; your youth is renewed like the eagle.”
Psalm 103:1-5
