Lady Cynthia Woodruff
In this time of fasting, we each can anticipate different outcomes: instruction, inspiration by the Holy Spirit, manifestation of His power, and more. Corporately however, we are seeking His presence. We quiet the flesh so our spirit may rise, gently putting earthly appetites to rest that the Spirit of God may breathe more freely within us. This is not a fast of demanding or requiring, but of sweet surrender. We are not seeking what God can give; we are seeking who He is. Not His hand, but His face. Not possessions, but His voice.
Like Moses who ascended the mountain and lingered in the presence of the Lord, we come not with requests, but with reverence.
“Show me Your glory.” (Exodus 33:18)
Moses was transformed simply by being with God and yielding to his the will. In the fullness of His presence Moses was enlightened and his face reflected the very glory he beheld. So it is with us. As we surrender, transformation begins, not into our will, but His will; not our way, but His way; not our image, but the image of Christ:
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2)
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5)
“Being renewed in the spirit of our mind and putting on the new self with righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:23-24)
This fast is an alignment of hearts and minds, where together we begin to think differently, see differently, speak differently, and love differently, manifesting the power and glory of God within our spheres of influence and throughout this region!
As our flesh decreases, Christ increases. And in this quiet, sacred place, we wait, not striving, but trusting for deep transformation, holy consecration, and the abiding presence of God.
Abba, today we choose obedience.
Abba, together we embrace sacrifice.
Abba, we trust Your response.
Amen.
