We are excited to celebrate with you as you choose to dedicate your child to the Lord! Children truly are a precious gift from the Lord (James 1:17)! Here at Restoration Church RI we believe that dedicating your child is not a right earned, but a privilege and a step of obedience to the Lord. Rather than viewing this opportunity as a tradition in our faith, we choose to see it as a commitment between parents and the Lord to raise children to be followers of Christ.
By dedicating your child, you are agreeing with Proverbs 22:6, and will do your part to train your child in the way they should go so they will have a foundation of Faith in the Lord when they are older.
Deuteronomy 4:6-9 says , “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.6 these commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Just as Moses spoke these words to the parents in the Nation of Israel, We here at North Providence church believe that the sole responsibility of Parenting lies within your household, making the first and foremost step in parenting loving God. As you train your children through daily life experiences and the Word of God, we as a church body desire to come along side you and offer any support or help you may need.
By dedicating your child, you are committing to stand before your church family and make a vow that you and your household will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15), and in doing so, your life will be a living testament to your child/children of how a Follower of Christ should live.
Dedication of children is reserved for regular church attendees, and is subject to the Pastoral Staff’s approval. If it is your desire to dedicate your child to the Lord, Please fill out the attached form and return it to the Church Secretary. Upon receiving your form, you will be contacted to set up an appointment with the Children’s Pastor to discuss scheduling and service details.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
